Villa Il Padronale

Cortona 8 4 4
Villa Il Padronale is truly a piece of art, with its beautiful, old stone walls, breathtaking views, and large garden with lemon trees. Perched halfway up the hillside with magnificent landscapes, you can see over the Valdichiana valley to the town of Montepulciano, famous for Nobile wine, as well as Mount Amiata in the far distance, over 80 km away! It is just a short 10 minute drive from the Etruscan hill town of Cortona, and a mere stone’s throw away from Lake Trasimeno, for easy access to all that Tuscany and Umbria have to offer. This beautiful stone villa is found within the estate of one of the most prominent and historic families in Tuscany. The origins of the house date back to the 14th century, when the tower, the central part of the house, was built as an external defence of the city. Its colourful and interesting history includes being owned by a Grandmaster of the Knights of Malta and later, in 1868, as the birthplace of Paolino Tribbioli, a prominent Catholic clergyman who played a key role in bringing the Catholic Church to India. The current owners bought the villa after falling completely in love with it, renovating it in 2017 to create a luxury holiday villa. The interior is beautifully furnished, yet simple, maintaining some of the original features of the house as well as various antique pieces. The ground floor is made using the original clay and marble tiles, and wooden ceiling beams are exposed throughout. Cosy up with a good book and a glass of wine in the sitting room, in front of the antique fireplace. Upstairs, the bedrooms spacious and comfortable bedrooms are all equipped with AC, and the bathrooms are decorated in with travertine tiles, stone sinks and high-quality fittings. One of them has a free-standing tub as well. Terraced gardens with green lawns and old trees providing natural shade are perfect for unwinding. The outdoor patio overlooks the pool, with the Tuscan landscape as a backdrop. There is no better spot to enjoy your Italian aperitivo as you watch the sunset! This is the perfect spot for living the "dolce vita". Spend your days immersed in nature and the Tuscan sunshine, indulging in locally produced food and wine, and strolling through the nearby charming town of Cortona.
